Rise above!! After 100 years, City streets for people once again

On this date 100 years ago, the City of Los Angeles set a precedent that persists to this day around the world, giving priority to machines over people on the streets.

The City Council overrode the Mayor's veto and established that "Roadways … are primarily intended for the use of vehicles and street cars."

Thanks to Peter Norton for ongoing research exposing the
history of automobiles invading people's lives

Based on Peter's brilliant ongoing research, just this week Reena Mahajan drew this cartoon in the style of the times to reveal the forces at work in the background which motivated the City Council to define the new role for streets cities.

With technology under development in several countries around the world, it has become feasible to elevate high speed mobility overhead and liberate city streets to serve people again.
